Explains boys volleyball so well!

Having been around volleyball for the last 22 years, it is rare that I feel out of my element in the gym. I’ve coached club, high school, middle school and youth volleyball, and spent a season assisting a Division 1 college program as well. So, I wasn’t quite prepared for how I would feel when we added boys volleyball to our club and clinics this season. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love it and can’t imagine our club without it, but it is definitely outside my comfort zone.

Boys volleyball looks sloppy to me, but the power is incredible. Most of the guys have no problem moving quickly, but the stopping and controlling can be an issue at times. I find myself wanting to run ball control drills with them constantly, while they would rather have a bounce competition, regardless of their incorrect footwork and inconsistent armswing.
